United States of AmericaOfficials in Charlottesville in the U.S. state of Virginia have declared a state of emergency before a large march by white nationalists Saturday, following clashes between them and counter-protesters the previous night.

The move would allow local authorities to bring in additional resources from outside jurisdictions if needed, the police department said. However, the declaration would not stop the event from taking place, which could be one of the largest such rallies in recent U.S. history. “Local officials continue to closely monitor the situation and will provide additional details as they are available,” the statement said.

comunistaThe Communist Party of Canada condemns the latest flagrant violation of the national sovereignty of Venezuela by Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland.

Going far beyond the bounds of diplomacy, Minister Freeland attacked the July 30 voting to elect a Constituent Assembly which will have powers to resolve the political crisis in Venezuela. The Liberal government’s claim that the election was “contrary to Venezuela’s Constitution”, and therefore illegitimate, is a lie. Article 347 and 348 of the Bolivarian Constitution outline the president’s right to initiate a National Constituent Assembly.

Donald Trump CC0President Trump has embarked on a week-long overseas trip, which began with a visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday May 20, and will end with his participation in a meeting with the G-7 nations in Sicily on May 27. He has taken with him his wife, Melania, daughter Ivaka, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross and other officials. From what we have seen and heard so far, this excursion is not a harbinger of good for working people either in the United States or in the countries he is visiting, or anywhere.

First, let's acknowledge what we all know to be true: Trump is in deep, deep trouble -- in the pocket of Russians, surrounded by alt.right idiots, alone in his bathrobe in a mostly-empty White House -- and caught inside a disgusting »shit-sandwich«, so said his supporter who turned down the NSA job.

amnesty internationalIn reaction to President Trump’s Executive Order to effectively prevent refugees from seeking resettlement in the USA, Salil Shetty, Secretary General at Amnesty International said: »President Trump’s Executive Order effectively blocking those fleeing war and persecution from war-torn countries such as Syria, from seeking safe haven in the USA are an appalling move with potentially catastrophic consequences.

Never TrumpThe enormous outpouring of anti-Trump protesters in Washington D.C., and indeed the country and the world, on January 20 was a sight to behold. Tens of thousands came to Washington DC to inaugurate the resistance to Trump’s ultra-right wing, pro-Wall Street agenda.

Thousands of anti-Trump demonstrators filled Navy Memorial Plaza sidewalks and plaza right on the Parade Route. The Guardian newspaper reporter covering the route tweeted that demonstrators far outnumbered Trump supporters. The rally at the Navy Memorial was broadcast live on Pacifica Radio Network and by C-SPAN. It was an amazing day.

Moreover, the resistance has reached the halls of Congress. Over 60 members of the U.S. House of Representatives boycotted today’s inaugural ceremonies.

PCdoBThe Republican Donald Trump won the United States presidential election, defeating Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party candidate, who was a favorite in all public opinion polls and was considered as unbeatable by the bourgeois media, its international policy analysts, academics, and Chancelleries around the world.
