The CPPC repudiates and strongly condemns Turkey's new aggression against Syria under the pretext of creating a so-called “security buffer zone” and “fighting ISIS”.

This is a new aggression with US complicity which, it should be stressed, continues to occupy Syrian territories illegally and militarily and NATO complacency, in the words of the Secretary General of this political-military bloc.

This new aggression, taking place in the North-Eastern part of Syria, is part of a long process of interference, destabilization and aggression against the Syrian Arab Republic, which has been going on for eight years. A process of aggression for which Turkey, as well as the US, the NATO powers, Israel and the Gulf countries are responsible, notably for its enormous death toll, suffering and destruction, including millions of refugees and displaced people.

The Democratic Socialists of America stand in solidarity with the people of Syria as they face an egregious military incursion by Turkey.

Turkey was founded on the genocide of Kurds, Assyrians, Armenians and Greeks, and the ideology that led to that genocide continues to thrive in modern Turkey. The Turkish state and government is defined by highly reactionary and oppressive politics, combining Islamist extremism with nationalist chauvinism. This policy is evident in its highly oppressive treatment of ethnic minorities, activists and dissidents in Turkey today, which has seen thousands of journalists, teachers, judges and others persecuted.

Russian FederationTurkeyPresident of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President of The Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin agreed on the following points:

1. The two sides reiterate their commitment to the preservation of the political unity and territorial integrity of Syria and the protection of national security of Turkey.

2. They emphasize their determination to combat terrorism in all forms and manifestations and to disrupt separatist agendas in the Syrian territory.

3. In this framework, the established status quo in the current Operation Peace Spring area covering Tel Abyad and Ras Al Ayn with a depth of 32 km will be preserved.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Mr President, ladies and gentlemen,

We thank the President of Turkey for accepting our offer made during a recent telephone conversation, and today he and representatives of his delegation arrived in Sochi to discuss the developments in the Syrian Arab Republic, including in the northeast, beyond the Euphrates.

Mr Erdogan gave a detailed explanation of the goals of the Turkish military operation along the Syrian border. We have noted many times that we understand Turkey’s desire to take measures that would guarantee its national security.

We share Turkey’s concerns about the growing threat of terrorism and ethnic and religious disputes in that region. We believe these disputes and separatist sentiments have been fueled artificially from the outside.

The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) strongly condemns the continuing aggression and military invasion led by Turkey against Syria, which has led to hundreds of dead civilians and new waves of uprooted persons.

We also reject the position of the International Organizations which did not condemn this new aggression against the People of Syria, verifying that their concern about the human rights and civilians’ protection is hypocritical.

Syria Self AdminSeven days after the start of the Turkish aggression, supported by militias and its mercenaries on the north and east of Syria, the humanitarian situation facing our displaced people from the areas affected by the aggression has worsened, amid the complete interruption of humanitarian aid and the suspension of all international organizations and the withdrawal of their staff from the autonomous areas. In northern and eastern Syria.

The number of people displaced by the Turkish aggression has reached more than 275,000, including 70,000 children.

Following Turkey’s military invasion of Syria on Wednesday, October 9, the International Relations Committee of the Communist Party of Israel (CPI), released the following statement:

“With the blessing of the US imperialism, Turkey has launched new military operations in northern Syria against the country’s people. This latest invasion is a blatant and flagrant violation of international law and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria. Turkey’s invasion comes at a time when a glimmer of hope had appeared for the termination of the long bloody war.

SANASyrian Arab Army units began moving north to confront Turkish aggression on Syrian territory, SANA’s reporter in Hasaka said on Sunday.

Upon the announcement of this news, the people of Hasaka began celebrating in the neighborhoods of the city, welcoming this move to confront the Turkish aggression.

Video footage now shows us another horror perpetrated by U.S. imperialism and its local allies.

Civilian deaths, as well as those of military personnel, are now mounting as the blitzkrieg unleashed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the right-wing “Justice and Development” Party (AKP) penetrates deeper into northern Syria, with the stated intention of destroying Kurdish forces there and then settling Syrian refugees, currently  stranded in Turkey, in the area.

Britain's Communists have condemned the Turkish invasion of north-east Syria as a 'blatant and barbaric violation of Syria's national sovereignty'. Carol Stavris told the Communist Party of Britain's political committee that such a flagrant breach of international and humanitarian law cannot go unchallenged.

More support needed for democratic forces

German MEP Özlem Alev Demirel has laid out the steps in which the European Union must follow in response to the Turkish army’s violation of international law by invading Syria.
