  • CPB General Secretary addresses Moscow conference

    ROBERT GRIFFITHS, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Britain, participated in this weekend's conference in Moscow on 'Marx's Capital and its Impact on World Development'. This is the text of his speech:

    In 1867, Marx wrote to Johann Becker that Das Kapital would be 'without question the most terrible MISSILE that has yet been hurled at the heads of the bourgeoisie'.

    Ever since, Capital has armed the working class with the Theory of Surplus Value, explaining why and how labour power is exploited to the profit of the capitalist class.

  • Russia hosts conference on Marx's Capital

    Communist Party of the Russian Federation leader Gennady Zyuganov opened an international conference on 'Marx's Capital and its Impact on World Development' in Moscow at the weekend.

    With representatives of 37 foreign Communist and workers' parties and national liberation movements present, he paid tribute to Marx as 'the great scientist and revolutionary, the founder of communist theory'.

    Karl Marx was an eminent philosopher, renowned economist, historian, journalist, political ideologue, revolutionary socialist, great intellectual and multilingual expert. His birthday bicentenary is being celebrated in a spectacular way all over the world from May 5, 2018 onwards throughout the year.

    Karl Marx obtained law degree and simultaneously studied Hegelian philosophy.

    Marx was a great scientific thinker, yet there are some pseudo intellectuals who have distorted Marxism. They have written books to prove that Marxism is no more relevant in the contemporary world. Their main aim is to continue with the status quo and serve the existing bourgeois society.

  • WFTU on the 200 years since the birth of Karl Marx

    On 5th May 1818 the great founder of the scientific world view of the working class Karl Marx was born in Trier of Prussia. His theoretical work and his action paved the way to the world working class to realize its historical role and to struggle for the end of the exploitation.

    By analyzing the laws of the capitalist mode of production in his works like the Critique of Political Economy (1859) and the Capital (1867), he proved that capitalism is incompatible with the workers prosperity and an obstacle to social development. He also highlighted the necessity of the class oriented struggle of the masses for the establishment of the socialist society.

    The European Communist Initiative released a statement to commemorate the 200th birthday of Karl Marx.

    The European Communist Initiative which is formed by the communist and workers’ parties from Europe including the Communist Party of Turkey has released a statement to commemorate the 200th birthday of Marx. Referring to the 11th thesis in the introduction, the statement reminded of the decisive contributions of Marxist worldview as well to the economic, political and philosophical thought of humanity.

  • Xi honors enduring legacy of Marx

    China DailyThe Communist Party of China will continue to learn from Karl Marx, the greatest thinker of human history, and practice Marxism in the new era, President Xi Jinping said on Friday.

    Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks at a conference at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to mark the 200th anniversary of Marx's birth.

    On the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Karl Marx: Statement by the International Section of the Workers Party of Ireland

    Karl Marx was born on 5th May 1818, in Trier in the Rhineland of Prussia and spent the first 17 years of his life there. He attended Bonn University from 15th October 1835 to 22nd August 1836 and later attended university in Berlin. He commenced his lifelong political struggle as a writer for the Rheinische Zeitung in 1842, honing his journalistic and political skills. In 1843 he married Jenny von Westphalen, a childhood friend.
