A fire in the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka, leaves thousands homeless while it is estimated that houses of at least 3000 people had destroyed. The fire spread in one of the sprawling slums in which numerous workers are crowded in makeshift accommodation in order to be close to the nearby factories. Once again the insecure and miserable living conditions of thousands of workers in Bangladesh are revealed.

The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing more than 97 million workers in the five continents of the world demand from the authorities and government of Bangladesh the immediate securing of dignified and safe accommodation for the all the fire victims and implementation of health and safety measures for all the aspects of live of the popular strata of country.
