The World Federation of Trade Union representing more than 97 million workers in 130 countries all over the world, strongly condemns the reported decision of Baluchistan High Court that bans the Trade Unions in the public sector. If this decision is confirmed, is an unacceptable anti-labor and anti-trade union attack against the working class of Pakistan and the human rights of the people of Pakistan.

The World Federation of Trade Unions representing more than 95 million workers in 130 countries expresses its strong condemnation for the prevailing situation in the mines of Pakistan.

During the last 3 weeks, at least 6 fatal labour accidents took place in Pakistan resulting in the death of at least 10 miners. The unacceptable working conditions both in the mines as well as in several other workplaces and industries of the country reaffirm the constant and conscious crime which is taking place for years in a country rich of minerals and natural recourses.

The suicide bombing of a paramilitary convoy in Indian-controlled Kashmir on February 14, stimulated the conflict between India and Pakistan, leading to cross border shellings and air bombardments. The Communist Parties of the involved countries commented on the escalating tension.

On February 27, the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) strongly condemned the ongoing bellicose environ and declared that the escalated frenzy of jingoism is undoubtedly "in the best interest of the religious fanatics and the military establishment, but it has nothing to do with the peoples' well-being of both the countries." Pointing out the socio-economic problems related to the system of savage capitalism, the CPP asserted that this uncalled war madness is a pretext for the military to grab mammoth increase in its budget supplies. The statement continued, "The present so-called elected democratic governments in both the countries are two sides of the same coin. Both playing to the gallery of their dirty political ambition and in larger canvas serving the interests of the imperialist masters and arm dealers." The Party called upon Communist Parties, Progressive and Peace Democracy loving forces on both sides to "unanimously resolve to press upon the rulers and the military establishment in their respective countries to shun away the pursuits of war in lieu of peace, jobs and peoples harmony, diverting all the resources towards the welfare of the people instead of dumping it in fire fodder."

The World Federation of Trade Unions, on behalf of its 95 million workers in 130 countries of the 5 continents expresses its sincere condolences to the families and friends of the 4 miners who lost their lives in tow different labour accidents in Jabba Khush area of Pakistan the last days.

The World Federation of Trade Unions expresses its solidarity to the working class of Pakistan for the two separate accidents which took place in southwestern Balochistan province of Pakistan and cost the lives of 23 miners. The WFTU expresses its sincere condolences to all the families, friends and relatives of the miners who have been murdered at their workplaces trying to earn their livelihood.

pamePAME expresses its Solidarity with the workers and trade unions in Pakistan for the deaths of miners.

Since the beginning of the year, there have been numerous incidents in mines in Pakistan that have led to the death of dozens of workers, most recently the collapse of a mine in Marwar, Balochistan.

The World Federation of Trade Unions and the class oriented trade union movement continue their long-term and relentless struggle for the determination of high standard of safety measures in the mines and at all aspects of workers’ life. Also we demand the investigation of the conditions of the accident and punishment of the responsible ones.
